The Team

John Corris

John formed Critical Flow Systems Ltd. The company provided expert advice to several water companies to comply with the EA Flow Policy.

John has been a key member in developing the MCERTS scheme and co-authored the policy on Closed Pipe Meters. He was the first MCERTS Inspector to undergo the formal assessment procedure. 

John has recently been working with United Utilities and Severn Trent Water to develop specialist flow calculations for a range of Compound weirs and H flumes.

Marcus Harding

Marcus joined Critical Flow Systems in 2003 having worked for Wessex Water for 15 years; that's 30 years experience! Marcus is based near Bath and works closely with Wessex Water and other non-water utilities in the South West region. He became an MCERTS Inspector in 2005.

Marcus is very experienced operator of clamp on ultrasonic flow meters. He was an early proponent of the Panametrics flow meter; the first flow meter to gain MCERTS product approval.  

Chris Corris

Chris joined the company in 1999. He wrote and developed our early flow software. This project took over six months to complete and still the bases of today’s Mflow software. Chris became an MCERTS Inspector in 2005. Chris sits on the MCERTS steering group, working with the EA (and NRW) and Water Utilities to continually improve the scheme.

He works closely with Severn Trent and Thames Water to meet their MCERTS requirements. He has worked with the power generation companies to develop a ‘Pump Run Time’ method to report flow data.

Aaron Hiden

Aaron has ten years experience in working with Flow Monitoring and MCERTS certification. Aaron became an MCERTS inspector in 2011. He works throughout the sector and has run several large projects in clean water network compliance, flow4 and Event Duration (Storm) Monitoring.  

Recently Aaron worked on an UKWIR project, developing flow models to demonstrate FFT compliance.

Phil Rose

Phil joined Critical Flow Systems straight from University with Aaron in 2008, as a trainee MCERTS Inspector. In 2011 Phil successfully passed his MCERTS Inspector assessment.

Phil works closely with teams in Dwr Cymru (Welsh Water) to meet their MCERTS compliance. In addition to managing the MCERTS certification program, Phil has designed and over seen the installation of many complex Civil projects. Phil is a trained as Principal Designer to aid compliance with the CDM regulations.

Peter Brookbank

Peter works part-time since his retirement from Grontmij (Project Consultants). Peter has run several large works flow projects for Grontmij and now works on our own Project Management.

In addition Peter has taken charge of the day to day running of our Quality Management Procedures and Health and Safety compliance. Under Peters guidance we have achieve ISO 9001,ISO 14001, CHAS and Achilles.

Lucy French

Lucy is one of our newest MCERTS Inspectors. Lucy now leads MCERTS audits, particularly for our re-certification customers and oversees the MCERTS program for Severn Trent Water (managing over 570 sites). Lucy has IOSH qualifications and is trained first aider.

Lucy joined straight from University following her gap year working for C.F.S. Lucy is a qualified first aider and helps developing our risk assessment procedures.

Tamas Borondi

Tamas also qualified as an MCERTS Inspector, at the same time as Lucy. Tamas graduated from of Budapest University of Technology and settled in Cheltenham following a student exchange. Tamas has a Masters qualification in Quality Standards and worked closely with Peter in achieving our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates. Recently Tamas oversaw UKAS calibration of our test rig flow meter. Allowing calibration of our equipment to National Standards.

Elizabeth Stuart

Elizabeth joined Critical Flow to run our accounts but has quickly moved on to planning, scheduling and business development. Elizabeth has introduced a number of internal processes and software to boost productivity. Elizabeth champions great customer service and will ensure all business enquiries are dealt with directed or efficiently passed to an expert engineer .

Alex Storrer

Alex joined Critical Flow to assist on site but has quickly shown a real aptitude for flow measurement and moved on to our training program to become an MCERTS Inspector. Alex works throughout all sectors with a view gaining as much experience as possible.
